thread507-232131: ZONATILE ROOF DECKING

I read this earlier thread and we have just come upon Zonatile that failed in an industrial building. I was wondering if anyone has any info on it

RE: zonatile

Please describe the material as the term "Zonotile" might be a misspelled term as noted in the other thread.  Please give the age of the building and the manifestation of failure.  Photos would be helpful as well.

RE: zonatile

DCEB...thanks.  Zonatile was manufacturered by the Zonolite Company which was purchased by W.R. Grace in the early 1960's.  They apparently dropped Zonatile from their product line 4 or 5 years later.

I'm wondering if it did not compete well with cast-in-place gypsum and Tectum decks that were popular in that era.

The info you have is probably as good as you'll get!
