exporting large assembly with step translator

(OP)
Hi,
I've been trying to export a large assembly into a step file so that my customer get the assembly structure when it is read in. So far every step file I've given him reads in as one component with all the geometry as seperate bodies. How do I export so they the assembly structure will be read in.

RE: exporting large assembly with step translator

When you export, don't use the Selected Objects in the Data to Export tab and select what you want to export.
Either set the option to Entire Part or change the Export From to Existing Part.

RE: exporting large assembly with step translator

Why am I not seeing that option? When I go to File/Export/parasolid I am only getting a dialog that allows me to select the version of parasold, and to select the solids I want to export, but does not give me the "data to export" tab I'm on NX8.01...Fred

RE: exporting large assembly with step translator

Correction...I do have that option with the step translators, but the option doesn't exist in the parasolid exporter.
