Anyone using Bricscad?
Anyone using Bricscad?
(OP)
I got a flyer in the mail today for BRISCAD that claims to do all that Autocad can but at a reasonable price. is there anyone out there using it for engineering applications?

RE: Anyone using Bricscad?
I use the Platinum version which does parametric modelling... I'm not really a cad operator, but anything (relatively simple) I've done with parametrics has been flawless... also importing large complex 3D objects is not a problem (Several meg file size). They can be edited and imported back to AutoCAD with the only notice is that Autodesk will stipulate that the drawing has been created in a non-autoCAD program.
Highly recommended. In two years it's only locked up twice and both times files were recovered... better than my previous version of LT.

RE: Anyone using Bricscad?
I picked up a trial copy of Bricscad and after a week (trial is good for a month), ordered it. It has nearly all the features and allows saving files to versions to at least 3.15... I've used it for some very complicated and large 3D stuff, without a glitch... it was half the price of LT and had all the programmability as ACAD 11... With my earlier copy of LT, it often locked up and I lost work. With Bricscad, it's only locked up a couple of times and the work was fully recovered.
I'm really sold on the product and I only use a fraction of its features.

Oh yeah - I could teach my secretary to use it (TurboCad) in about 30 minutes.!!

Actually I do not produce drawings or 3D models I specialise in transient hydraulics. I was asking as my son was training in drafting. He has a free copy of Autocad and is sticking with that for now. My spare time is limited as I am a full time carer so perhaps one day I will get a chance or need to look at it.
I just have a downer on Autodesk as they bought Algor and stopped supporting the software I used for pipe stress analysis. So if I can put the boot in I will.
