Patran not applying material properties

Patran not applying material properties

Patran not applying material properties

(OP)
I am trying to run a very simple analysis on a strip of material, using a nonlinear elastic material. I have created a material field with the stress-strain data points, and then created a new material with this field and applied it to the strip. When I try and run the analysis in Nastran it won't work! I have checked the .f06 file and it brings up this error:

USER FATAL MESSAGE 2016 (TA1)
     NO MATERIAL PROPERTIES EXIST.

It works fine if I use a linear elastic material, but not when I use nonlinear. Help please!!!

RE: Patran not applying material properties

This is the process for creating an Isotropic Nonlinear Elastic Material.

0) Create your filed by selecting Object: Material Property, Method: Tabular Input, and Table Defintion: Select only strain
1) In the Create materials dialog, provide Input Properties for the Constitutive Model Linear Elastic, then hit apply
2) VERY IMPORTANT! While still selecting the same material you just created, select "Input Properties" again. Except this time you select "Nonlinear Elastic," and in the "stress/strain cruve=" option you select the field you just made. Hit Apply. Now your single material has two constitutive models, one for the linear portion and one for the nonlinear portion.
3) Go to properties and assign it to whatever FE model you have.
4) Run the analysis, hope it runs fine.

Best of Luck
