MODELLING OF A FLANGE/GASKET

MODELLING OF A FLANGE/GASKET

MODELLING OF A FLANGE/GASKET

(OP)
I'm an undergraduate working part time and I have little experience. I'm trying to model two flanges with a rubber gasket in the middle. My question is, what type of contact should be used between the gasket and the flanges? My first instinct would be frictional, however this would take a lot more computing time. Can I count the diametrical expansion of the flange under compression as negligible and just use a bonded contact?

Also, will I have to use non-linear analysis for this type of problem?
