HVAC in Co2 Room

Hello All,

This is a great engineering Forum. I want to thank all People for the information you share.

I having a problem to find out any standards to define CO2 room in ship should be a Explosion Proof area.I mean the FD and Fan should be Explosion proof rated for the area. Can anyone please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Bkg

RE: HVAC in Co2 Room

Hmmm...  Carbon dioxide is not combustible, it's what we use to put fires out.  Is there a reason that you suspect that explosionproof electrical equipment is required?

If you are considering the effects of carbon dioxide tank rupture, that is a structural issue not electrical.

Good on ya,

Goober Dave

Thanks for reply.
I do suspect , no Explosion proof required for this area. as CO is not Flammable. I just wanted to confirm this ...if any standard specifies that.
