what happens before synchronization is done

what happens before synchronization is done

what happens before synchronization is done

(OP)
Dear All,

I hope any of you could hep me with a simple problem. I am trying to do multipath channel compensation in receiver. For this I need to synchronize the received signal with the known sequence. I have already done the co relation to find the synchronization signal. When the signal crosses the threshold, the synchronization starts. But my question is: what happens before the received samples were synchronized with the known samples. Say, I have an adaptive equalizer in the end which uses the known sequence to estimate the channel. but if the received sequence is not synchronized, what happens to the adaptive equalizer. Is there any way to start the equalization operation just in the time when the synchronization is achieved?
Please reply.

Thanks
Nad
