VFD CABLE

VFD CABLE

(OP)
I have a question about maximum cable length between VFD and motor ,MV or LV , is there any table or formula in this regard?

RE: VFD CABLE

No table that would be meaningful as a generalization across platforms. Different drive topologies will cause different problems and dictate different strategies to deal with them, which will always affect the maximum length of motor lead cable. The type of cable makes a difference as well. If you have a specific issue and you know the details of what you have to deal with, post it and there are many people here that can offer strategies.

I'm sure jraef's comments are on the money.

Google "Riding The Reflected Wave" for one article on the subject

On the other hand ABB sustain that their driver provided with dv/dt filter will present no overshoot at any frequency-no limitation for 600 V cable.
That means the usual criteria of load and short-circuit heating and voltage drop will rule the supply cable choice.
