Problem in tooling list

Problem in tooling list

Problem in tooling list

(OP)
Hi all,

PLASTIC TOOLING LIST
-----------------------------------------------
Tool |Description  |Type|CAV|UP|Cycle time,Sec|
1     Front cabinet  ABS     2     2     42

-----------------------------------------------

In the above diagram, what is "CAV" and "UP" please?
i just a newbie.....

RE: Problem in tooling list

CAV  would probably be a 2-cavity mold.
meaning that there would be 2 parts produced
from this tool everytime its cycled.

Not sure what UP is for.

Thank you

RE: Problem in tooling list

I think rickyt is probably right. 2 UP means 2 parts produced everytime when the mold is cycled.

This is a common terminology used in metal die/stamping: a "2-UP die" means 2 parts can be produced from the die in every stroke of the press. (Note these 2 parts can be identical or different.)

Thank you.
That's logical.

RE: Problem in tooling list

In Plastic tooling UP means Undercut Pin.
Undercut Pins are also known as Up and Aways, collapsible cores, jiggle bars, etc.

Your tooling list is telling you that the tool should be 2 Cavities and 2 Undercut Pins.
You should be able to tell from viewing the Part geometry where the Undercut Pins should be located.
