RE: Need to convert SolidWorks File into a Cam File

You need a CAM software. We use CAMWorks and Mastercam.
If you use an outside machine shop, find out what file type they like, then save-as from SW, send to them.

Thank you for a fast reply.

Ok, i will see what i have and or will then get the needed attachments. These machines are next door tome in the shop where i am doing an internship in, so i can go to them anytime, the are Matzatrol machines and i believe what the owner said is a EIA File or a plain cam. thank you, also what a friend who also works with SW said, is that you can import a STEP. file into he Program for the machine and it will convert automatically, but i haven't tried that out yet, since i don't understand the language the computer is in on there machine

RE: Need to convert SolidWorks File into a Cam File

For our machines here, we simply save the file as a *.x_t file and the CAM software imports it without issue.

RE: Need to convert SolidWorks File into a Cam File

Many CAM packages can import SW format files, or have a SW add-on to enable that ability.

RE: Need to convert SolidWorks File into a Cam File

Just to clarify, I'm using BobCAM as an addin to Solidworks. I can export CAM files, but the machine operator often has to clean up and make some changes. If you have experienced CAM operators, just send them the SWX or parasolids files. They'll take it from there.
