Computer restarts during analysis

Computer restarts during analysis

Computer restarts during analysis

(OP)
Hi all,

I have a hardware intensive analysis run, which I need to run over night, twice now the PC randomly starts during the analysis sometime. I know this because the next morning I can see the computer has restarted?

I will try running the analysis in a file different locations. With all other analysis this does not seem to occur and has never occured before.

Any ideas or anyone had similar issues?

Thanks.

RE: Computer restarts during analysis

Assuming your code is fine

Your processor might be getting too hot and your computer settings might shut the computer down automatically to save the processor.

Check that airflows are clear around the CPU and that your out-take fans are not backed up against a wall.

RE: Computer restarts during analysis

I had this issue once, but I doubt it is related to your problem since you say other analyses are running fine.

It turns out Windows auto-update was not suppressed on my workstation and the PC would automatically restart to try and apply updates after-hours.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the input,

Looks like I had daily auto updates on Win 7, I have switched this off, hopefully this will solve the problem. Thanks.
