Choose MC channels

Choose MC channels

(OP)
Hello,

I need some help. I want to choose one MC or equivalent European U-Beam to withstand one force F according to the attached scheme.

I want to choose the needed profile and simulate on INVENTOR or SOLIDWORKS.

Thanks for the help!

RE: Choose MC channels

Pretty straight forward.  You might need the help of a structural eng.

Do a shear and then a Moment diagram and you are on your way.

Also - knowing what F, a and b are would be helpful if you want a definite answer...but we are not here to do your job or maybe your homework!!

RE: Choose MC channels

Mike has a natural affinity for all things Mc.   smile

RE: Choose MC channels

One note on loading a channel is that it may not be possible to support the channel in the same plane as the load and thus there will be an eccentric load applied creating a torsional moment.  This may, or may not, become an issue.
