Drawing images disappear

Drawing images disappear

Drawing images disappear

(OP)
I opened up a drawing I created previously and where the parts "used to be" are just dotted lines
in the shape of a rectangle.  All the parts views previously imported have disappeared and are now these dotted line rectangles.  What's causing this and is there a way to make the part view images reappear?  Thanks.

RE: Drawing images disappear

toycept,

First try hitting Ctrl-Q to do a forced rebuild of everything.  If that does not work then probably your part or assembly file the drawing is referencing is not where the drawing file expects to find it.  Either the drawing file or the part/assy file was moved or deleted, probably using Windows Explorer rather than SWX Explorer.

okay, that makes sense..... about moving the part.  I did consolidate files and put them in a folder.
So makes sense the files were not found.  Thanks for the follow  up.  Appreciate it.

RE: Drawing images disappear

toycept,

If you open up the moved parts from their new folder first then open the full assembly SolidWorks will take all the named parts from the opened versions and not look for them in the old location. Of course moving Files using SolidWorks Explorer the proper way would avoid this situation but SolidWorks first looks in meemory for objects then in the full object path location and or Search Directories.
