HIC, SCC, SSC corrosion tests on forgings
HIC, SCC, SSC corrosion tests on forgings
(OP)
We are forged valve manufacture and an EPC is requesting for carbon steel A350 LF2, stainless steel A182 F316 and duplex A182 F51, HIC, SSC and SCC (where applicable) corrosion tests. Does make it sense to make these tests on forgings for valves up to 4"?
Thank you

RE: HIC, SCC, SSC corrosion tests on forgings
As a forged valve manufacturer, you are an expert on how to produce valves, but not on their use. Supposedly, your customer is an expert on their use. They are the ones who bear the responsibility of making sure the valve is suitable for the service they are going to put it in. If they are unsure, they could very likely call for extra testing to make sure there is not going to be an issue with service. This, of course, costs money.

Please tell me that the EPC is from the Middle East, or somewhere outside of Europe!
