Pennicilin Plant - Requirements

(OP)
Hello dear members!

Does anyone know, what must be the requeriments (environmental) for a plant to destroy pennicilin based products, and what kind of protection has to have the operators?

Thanks in advance for your answer

RE: Pennicilin Plant - Requirements

Are you in the U.S.?  I don't know the environmental laws for other countries.

No I´m not in U.S., I´m in Colombia, however in many fields we have followed the US Laws.

I´ll appreciate any input.

RE: Pennicilin Plant - Requirements

If the waste is hazardous (by U.S. regs) then you have to be a RCRA permitted facility to treat the waste.  The requirements to be a RCRA facility are very difficult (see 40 CFR 200-300).  In the U.S. most plants must ship their hazardous wastes to RCRA facilities. If it is nonhazardous and solid it can generally be landfilled in the U.S.
If nonhazardous water-based could probably be biological treated and discharge via permit to a POTW or waterway.  Waterway discharge require a NPDES permit in U.S.  If nonhazardous liquid,
would require solidification before landfilling.  See 40 CFR 200-300 to determine if hazardous in U.S.  Be sure to check biohazards.
