Reference Book on Plate Steels

RE: Reference Book on Plate Steels

Thanks, met.  Will dump a copy to my e-reader for some bedtime reading ;)

RE: Reference Book on Plate Steels

Wow. There is stuff there, like the mechanical properties data and the case and core hardness data that I have never seen anywhere before.

RE: Reference Book on Plate Steels

Thanks George!  It took me about 10 seconds to download that at work-- just amazing what can be done with the internet for archiving older references like this.

RE: Reference Book on Plate Steels

That is cool link.

Maybe I'm just having trouble reading, but anyone know what year that is from?

RE: Reference Book on Plate Steels

(OP)
I would say around 1960.

RE: Reference Book on Plate Steels

I know it's older than my 1980 edition that I still keep handy. It was published before 5-digit zip codes were established though. It is really neat to see the old terminology - my book doesn't define troostite or scleroscope!

RE: Reference Book on Plate Steels

And 90% of the steel made was open hearth. So, yes, around 1960.

RE: Reference Book on Plate Steels

it is a good reference for me, thanks.
