Hello all,

I have a geometry created in Solidworks, that i have saved as a parasolid and imported into Femap, it consists of 7 pieces. All the pieces are round tubes

I am meshing it with solid tets, and when it meshes 5 of the pieces mesh correctly, but 2 of them mesh as Plot Planar elements. How do I stop this from happening, as I need them as solid tets. I don't get why this is happening cause all the pieces are essentially the same tube pieces.

I have never had this happen before, and I was doing a very similar geometry last week, it was actually the same part but slightly different designa.

Hello!,
PLOT PLANAR means that the geometry refuse to mesh, then FEMAP show in red the failed part. For many reasons the part could not be meshed, check that the body is a solid body, not simple faces, use command like "Geometry > Solid > CleanUp" activating ALL options to check the geometry.

Also, reduce element size and try to mesh. If failed post your FEMAP model here and I will take a look to it.

Thanks, examined the piece that wasn't meshing and it was due to the steep angle on the end of it.  Added some geometry lines to it, and it meshed perfect.
