Correct References in Workgroup PDM Vault But incorrect on local disk

Correct References in Workgroup PDM Vault But incorrect on local disk

Correct References in Workgroup PDM Vault But incorrect on local disk

(OP)
Hi all,

I have an assembly (69645-1) that is saved in the workgroup PDM (Vault).

When I RMB on this assembly and pick <Document Information>-> <Refernces Tab> it contains references to various parts.  One of these parts is a Bearing stored in the "Bearings" folder of the workgroup PDM.  for completeness sake is part number SR2ZZA1P25LD.SLDPART.

I open and check out 69645-1.

Now....  In solidworks I select File -> Open and navigate to 69645-1 on my local E:\ drive.  If I select the part in the "File->Open" Dialogue box and then LMB <References...> it contains incorrect references and locations of the bearing mentioned above.

The window contains "Instrument Ball Bearing_AI.sldpart) (a toolbox part) located in Folder C:\Solidworks Data...  instead of the proper SR2ZZA1p25ld.sldpart located on my E:\ drive.

Summary:  The references are correct in the vault but get screwed up after I bring the part to my local drive.  I can fix them by double clicking and pointing Solidworks to the correct file, but I would prefer to not have to do that for every assembly in my vault with screwed up references.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks,
Frank

RE: Correct References in Workgroup PDM Vault But incorrect on local disk

Was your bearing 'SR2ZZA1P25LD.SLDPART' originally a toolbox/library part that you modified and saved as a stand alone part file outside of the toolbox.

Somewhere in those files it remembers they were once a toolbox part, and can go into your toolbox to find it again (back to the orinial, unmodified version).

Do you have a copy of it checked out in a different folder?

MDGroup :  You are correct.

Only question is how to figure out which toolbox...

I took over for a couple of guys that didn't understand Workgroup PDM or Toolbox 100%...
