Orbital Pipe Welding Scheme

Orbital Pipe Welding Scheme

Orbital Pipe Welding Scheme

(OP)
Have been out of the fabrication game for some time but getting back into it.  I am seeking advice on the following brief for orbital pipe welding:

MOC: CS, low alloy, SS, including duplex.
Size: Sch.40~160, Ø8~16"
Position: 5G and 2G
Quantity: 100/month (guesstimate)
Code: B31.x, ASME VIII
Inspection: 100% X-ray

Looking at both machine and automatic options (as defined by ASME IX).  Must have reasonable productivity and simplicity; i.e., reasonably easy to learn and not too fussy.  Weld preparation requirements should not be onerous - simple preps.

Within the above parameters, I am seeking process and equipment recommendations.

Thanks in advance

I'll second that one. AMI is my favorite.

Others include Liburdi and Astro Arc.

Tri-Tool makes good simple prep equipment.

Talk to your local Lincoln rep as well.  They sunk some bucks into their acquisition of Arc Products, and they have developed a VERY slick, very robust orbital head, priced exceptionally well.  I believe it also interfaces with one of their standard inverter power supplies.

Liburdi Dimetrics and Magnetec as well as the above.
