Script to Rename Instances and Keep Contextual Links

Iis that a way to run a VBscript that updates the Instance Names and keep the Contextual Links?

If I manually open Part Properties on a Product and change the Instance Names, a windows pops up and asks to reconnect the Contextual Links. This works fines and keeps the links. However running a VBScript to rename will break all the links to the Assemblies and Drilling.

RE: Script to Rename Instances and Keep Contextual Links

Hi,

Depend on what your script is doing....but is first time when I hear about this kind of problem, all scripts which I saw about instance renaming were running without this kind of problem.

Is it true that if you Rename Instances with a CATScript 'InProcess' it will keep the link whereas if you do the same Rename Instance with VB 'out of process' the links will NOT be updated?

That is what a Dassault engineer told me.

John Latva
