Failure about underlying 3D shell elements

Failure about underlying 3D shell elements

(OP)
Hello everyone,

I'm developing a machine and I'm busy modelling my design in Abaqus to finetune my dimensions.

I got the following error today:

THE ELEMENT BASED SURFACE ASSEMBLY__PICKEDSURF377 HAS A MIXTURE OF 3D SHELL EDGES AND OTHER TYPES OF UNDERLYING ELEMENTS. IF A SURFACE HAS ANY 3D SHELL EDGES THEN ALL OF ITS FACETS MUST BE 3D SHELL EDGES.

Information about my model: I have 3 parts (merged from other parts) and they are tied at some points to each other. To make sure they don't cut through eachother during simulation, I've placed some contact faces.

What I've already done: I surpressed each tie and contact separately to discover where the problem is. It isn't there... I checked my master/slave combinations but don't see any direct problems.

Does anyone has experience with this error?

Thanks in advance!

Greets
