Spherical Pressure Vessel

(OP)
Please could you help me find how to design shells (plates), and in this case (spherical pressure vessel) do we need heads or simple plates,
thank you.

RE: Spherical Pressure Vessel

A sphere calc's as two hemi-heads.  Use FEA on the leg-to-plate joint, as the 'crotch' of that joint is structurally 'hot'.  Look at the service conditions to decide on a material spec & grade.  Decide on number, size and placement of nozzles.

Beyond that, don't touch it.  Get a manufacturer that does its own erections, and let them do the rest - like Chicago Bridge & Iron.  Spheres look easy.  They are NOT.  Fitting huge plates in 3 simultaneous dimensions to a tolerance of +/- 1/16" is close to impossible unless the fabrication, in all 3 dimensions, is essentially perfect.
