Can plexiglas be used for replacement glass for firehose cabinets?

Please give any and all answers. thanks

RE: Can plexiglas be used for replacement glass for firehose cabinets?

More than likely not , if the original was break glass to get into the cabinet

And if break glass is not required the building code might specify what type of material is required when in reachable area. Cannot think of the term will have to look it up

RE: Can plexiglas be used for replacement glass for firehose cabinets?

Extinguishing cabinets have plexiglas in the doors as an option.  But, because plexiglass is stronger than glass, you will need a tool to break the glass.  And the tool should be tethered/wired/chained to the cabinet.
