Sand pad electrical resistivity in cathodic protection

Sand pad electrical resistivity in cathodic protection

Sand pad electrical resistivity in cathodic protection

(OP)
Hi!
I'm working in a project that believes the resistivity of sand used for sand pad must be 250 to 500 ohm.m for cathodic protection of existing tanks and piping.
I need to know which standard mention the electrical resistivity required for cathodic protection of these items? NACE? API? ASTM? And the standard number please.
Thank you in advance.

RE: Sand pad electrical resistivity in cathodic protection

The sand does not provide cathodic protection!  The resistivity is a guide to the expected corrosivity of the soil.  Refer to API RP 651, sub-subclause 5.3.1.2, Page 10
