Change the origin on CATIA V5

Change the origin on CATIA V5

Change the origin on CATIA V5

(OP)
I am trying to change the origin (the xyz plane) to a particular spot. I already have an object in place, so how do i move origin to destination?

RE: Change the origin on CATIA V5

The Absolute Axis System (the "origin") of a part is fixed and cannot be moved.

You can reposition parts within an assembly. Normally this is done by using assembly constraints to position parts relative to other parts.

RE: Change the origin on CATIA V5

Create your standard axis, and then create an axis at your new origin. Now translate the part from the new origin to the standard axis. The translation is in the generative shape workbench.

Or right mouse click on your new origin axis and set as current.

Is either of these, what you are looking for?

RE: Change the origin on CATIA V5

A picture would help us to understand your problem better...and how is created a part (axis system origin) can be subject of a method specific for each company on how to model parts in CATIA...

It can be done also if you change the support (or coordinates for points) of what you want to be in Origin....

Fernando
