ASME Case 1056-B FQ Material

ASME Case 1056-B FQ Material

ASME Case 1056-B FQ Material

(OP)
Has anyone ever heard of "ASME Case 1056-B FQ" material?  I'm trying to evaluate some old Propane storage bullets and this is the material listed on the U-1 form for the hemispherical heads.  (See attached U-1)

Does anyone know where I can find data for this material?

Thanks.

Thanks, but I was actually looking for info on the 1056-B material.  The shell was constructed of SA212-B, but the heads were made of the 1056-B.

I see the tensile is 73,000 psi.  Any clue as to the min yield for this material?  Or the allowable stress?  Someone has penciled in "18,300 Stress" so I assume that's what was used at some point.  I just have no way to back any of this up.

Check with ASME.org, there should be a copy of the above code case 1056. You may have to pay for this. By the way, FQ stands for firebox quality steel.

Thanks metengr.  I will check with them.  I'm used to seeing firebox quality steel written as "FBQ," but I figured this was the same notation.  Just need more info on the yield stress.
