I am fighting my way through the convoluted mess that is AASHTO.  Can somebody point me to where you calculate the strength of a non-composite steel beam?  I know it is in Chapter 6 but can't seem to find it.  Never thought I would say AISC is a wonderfully clear and concise document...

Look at the flow charts in the appendix of chapter 6, it will give you the articles

If you think AASHTO is convoluted, pray that you do not have to crack open the Eurocode.

Thanks Bridge EI.  I hadn't gone all the way back and found those flowcharts yet.  Still can't say it is clear, but it is less blurry.
