NX7.5 Step files

NX7.5 Step files

NX7.5 Step files

When importing a stp. file from a online catalouge or supplier the object comes in with approx. 4000 bodies.
what are the best settings to bring this in as maybe 1 - 10 bodies MAX.
this seems to be slowing the system down alot!
Please Help

RE: NX7.5 Step files

Are they coming in as sheet bodies?
If so, try the Sew surfaces automatically option.

I have this set up as a customer default but still doesnt help.
Tried both with that on and off and same outcome either way?

RE: NX7.5 Step files

Are they coming in as solids or sheet bodies?
How many solid bodies are you expecting to be in this file? The first post mentions 1 - 10 bodies, are you importing a single part file or an assembly?

RE: NX7.5 Step files

They are sheet bodies.
There is an assembly, by the looks of the assembly there would be about 10-15 components. It is a fan housing with the components inside. However i am not wanting to do anything with the assembly, its just for visual aid. So the housing would be sufficient. I can delete all the bodies internal of the housing but still would be left with alot of sheet bodies for the housing.

RE: NX7.5 Step files

Maybe try this:
In the inport option, you can select "flatten assembly".
Meaning that all bodies, including the "component bodies", are in one partfile (the ons you import to).
The assembly structure is lost.

RE: NX7.5 Step files

Keep in mind that it is the source that is supplying you with sheet bodies. NX is not making them sheet bodies.
Do you have any other CAD packages at your disposal?
