Microstation j7 - shape files

Microstation j7 - shape files

Microstation j7 - shape files

I read some where that .shp(??) files can be loaded into MS.

How?? Does the file need to be georeferenced or does it load in at the proper location?

Thanks -

RE: Microstation j7 - shape files

Shape files cannot be directly loaded into Microstation, but there is a utility that will translate .shp files into .dxf files that can then be brought into MS. Point your browser to:

http://www.guthcad.com.au/arcv2cad.htm

This file will do 10 translations of any size free, and is then limited to a small file size (<32k) until you register it (I think that it's about $100).

I've used this several times and it works pretty seamlessly.

Good luck,

Rob

Thanks for the site Rob,

So once it is in dxf, the file will load into MS at the proper geo-location without additional steps??

Big time thanks - J

RE: Microstation j7 - shape files

The .dxf files should be properly georeferenced when you import them into Microstation. An exception to this is if they are off the design plane. This should not be an issue in V8.

Hope this helps,

Rob
