(OP)
I am new to refining and am reviewing API 570 piping service classes, can someone point me to a chart or explane what services would be included in piping classes 1,2 & 3

Thanks

RE: new to refinery

API 570 is more related to inspection and modification of existing systems.  ASME B31.3 is the code related to new design of refineries.

Looking over The classes in API570, they appear to very very loosely correlate to B31.3 as

Class 1 - Category M (aka "lethal" service)

Class 2 & 3 - Normal Fluid Service

Class 4 - Category D(minimum danger from exposure)

I see Class 4 specifically references B31.3 Category D.
