Inspection Method Approval for API

Inspection Method Approval for API

(OP)
Hi Everyone

Can anyone tell me how we can go about getting an inspection method qualified /approved by API so that it can be mentioned in the relative standards.

As an example MFL inspection is mentioned a few times in API 653 but this is not the only method to inspect tank floor bottoms.

Thank you

RE: Inspection Method Approval for API

API does not approve or qualify any particular inspection method. Their standards just recommend what is most commonly done in the field.

RE: Inspection Method Approval for API

Don't 'paint yourself into a corner' be specifying the inspection methods.  Some things are appropriate in one tank that are totally inadequate in another.  Leave those decisions up to your API-653 Inspector, prefferably after he/she gets a view of the floor after opening and cleaning.
