Hi,

Could someone please provide me with the electrical resistance of PVC and/or CPVC plastic?  Or point me to a source where I can find that information?

From Standard Handbook for EE, 11th Edition, Fink and Beaty:

PVC - rigid:

Dielectric constant @ 60 Hz = 4.0

Volume resistivity = 10^^16 ohm-cm.  That's 10 to the 16th power, and a lot of meg-ohms.  I did not find any data specific to CPVC.

Perhaps it would be useful to find out what CPVC is and a chemical engineer or the manufacturer should be able to enlighten you. For electrical installations PVC is used to provide insulation and when it is hardened can be used for limited mechanical protection

Per a manufacturer reference using ASTM Std D257, the volume resistivity at 50% RH are:

1-Poly Vinylchloride (PVC)...................=5.4 x 1015 Ohm-cm  
2-Chlorinated Poly Vinylchloride (CPVC)= 3.4 x 1015 Ohm-cm.
