Automatic Vent Valve for Flammable Liquid

Automatic Vent Valve for Flammable Liquid

(OP)
Dear All,

My process department requires an Automatic Vent valve for a flammable liquid line.

I search through the internet, but I couldn't find any that type of valve that are suitable for this application.

Do anybody have any information which manufacturer that produce this type of valve?

Or this product is not commonly manufactured. And I need to purchase two items, an Automatic Vent Valve and a flame arrestor?

RE: Automatic Vent Valve for Flammable Liquid

Are you looking for a "relief valve".

From "BigInch's Extremely simple theory of everything."

RE: Automatic Vent Valve for Flammable Liquid

What parameter opens this vent valve?  Temperature or pressure?  What is the scenario that sets the size of the valve?

Good luck,
Latexman

RE: Automatic Vent Valve for Flammable Liquid

I looked at a pressure pumping trap once for a HC service, the vendor wasn't interested in supplying one for HC service.  They wouldn't come out and say it but I suspect they were concerned about liability if something leaked and ignited.

A steam or condensate leak is a lot less serious than a flammable liquid so I can understand the company's reluctance if that is why they don't want to recommend it in this service.

Have you asked TLV about the suitability in your service? Where are you going to send the 'vented' vapors?

TLV and other manufacturers I searched, already state in their catalogue that their products are not suitable for venting flammable liquid.

I think to vent a flammable liquid at high point piping, you need two item: Air vent and Flame arrestor.

I was just wondering that if there are manufacturer which sells those two function in a single device.

I think you would be better served to exclude air to the process.  That may be easier said than done though.

Good luck,
Latexman
