user subroutine for initial stresses

user subroutine for initial stresses

user subroutine for initial stresses

(OP)
Hi all,

I want to run a simulation in which material has initial stresses which vary through the thickness. The model has one shell element through thickness with arbitrary number of integration points. How can I implement the initial stresses to different integration point of material? Which user subroutine I can use? I want to put some analytical solutions to calculate the initial stresses in the user subroutine and then add them to different integration points of the elements. I appreciate if someone can please upload an example of the user subroutine that I can use.

C,
A

RE: user subroutine for initial stresses

Do a search in the ABAQUS forum here for "SIGINI" as this is the subroutine you need. There is lots of good info available.

RE: user subroutine for initial stresses

I'm trying to do the same avoiding SIGINI since I've never used Fortran, and I'm trying to use the *MAP SOLUTION but at least for my case it seems it's not working. If anyone find something helpful for the residual stress profile applied as input please let us know

I have not bee able to use SIGINI. I appreciate if someone please upload a complete example for SIGINI here.

RE: user subroutine for initial stresses

In my opinion SIGINI is not easy to use at all. Try with the command *INITIAL CONDITIONS, TYPE=STRESS etc. You can only use it if both models are the same (same number elements and names). Otherwise I don't think there is other solutions than SIGINI.
