Minimum number of threads required to engage

Hi,
I need to calculate Minimum number of threads required for two pipes to engage, The Pipes are having NPSM (American Standard Straight Mechanical Pipe Thread)

Pipe size = 4"-8TPI (NPSM Thread)

The pressure in the pipe is around 75 PSI.

I have considered  two threads for engagement, Is this sufficient to withstand 75 psi pressure ?

Thanks in advance

RE: Minimum number of threads required to engage

How did you come up with 2 threads?

Have you consulted B1.20.1?

I hope you don't ever meet the guy who has to put 4" pipe threads together, he might not be that nice to you.

Why not ANSI flanged? Or Sanitary Clamps, or Victaulic? or Tri-Lobe threads.

Machinist handbook will show you the path.
