Combined Compressive-Shear Buckling
Combined Compressive-Shear Buckling
(OP)
From Bruhn, eq.C5.11:
Rs + RL^2 = 1
is the criteria for combined shear and longitudinal stress. This is from NACA-ARR-3K13 "Critical stress for an infinitely long flat plate with elastically restrained edges under combined shear and direct stress", this is for constraints against rotations on the infinitely long sides and I have found other sources referencing this equation which states that this is only valid for a ratio of a/b above unity (a/b=1).
I need the analytical solution for a simply supported square plate. Anyone have a suggestion on where I can look?

RE: Combined Compressive-Shear Buckling
The a/b restriction probably just relates back to establishing the shear R value (a/b => 1 to determine ks). a/b=1 (your case) should be fine though.

BTW I am anxious to see your book.
