Converting from emu to mH/m

Converting from emu to mH/m

Converting from emu to mH/m

(OP)
I am trying to convert the permeability of a CT core where the value given is in emu. What is the conversion factor to get it in mH/m?

Thanks.

RE: Converting from emu to mH/m

In CGS[emu] the vacuum permeability will be 1[gauss/oerstadt].For the magnetic core of  CT the relative permeability could be 2000.
So miu=miuo*miur=2000
In MKSA[SI]  the vacuum permeability will be 4*pi/10^7 H/m[or Wb/A/m] .For the magnetic core of  CT the relative permeability could be 2000.
So miu=miuo*miur=4*pi/10^7*2000=0.002513 H/m

Thank you very much indeed.

Regards.

RE: Converting from emu to mH/m

Say again, 7. Can you express permeability in H/m?

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

RE: Converting from emu to mH/m

You are right Skogsgurra: for a magnetic core permeability is not relevant as from field strength of 0 to 3000 A/cm the relative permeability
may oscillate from 10000 to 100.So it is better to use the B=f(H) instead of. Note: The word "Oerstadt" has to be "Oersted" I think .

RE: Converting from emu to mH/m

OK. There is actually somthing called Oerestad. So you weren't that much off  smile

(Oerestad is the new city that has been built near Kastrup air port outside Coprnhagen).
