What does Compressor running at maximum turbine power mean?

What does Compressor running at maximum turbine power mean?

(OP)
Hello all,

What does a compressor is operating at the maximum turbine power mean? Does that mean that it will be limited to a certain power and for an increase in delta P, the inlet flow will be less? For example, if it has to compress from P1= 78 psig to P2=400 psig with the maximum power, it will suck a certain amount Q1, if P1 increased to 88 psig with the same P2, then the compressor will be able to suck a greater flow Q2 with the same maximum power. IS this right?

RE: What does Compressor running at maximum turbine power mean?

It would seem to indicate that the compressor is under maximum power load, ie the driver turbine is at maximum power output, additionally meaning a rotational acceleration of speed and increasing flow that would most likely occur during fastest possible wind up, or when a large gas load is quickly introduced, having slowed the compressor down somewhat and the compressor is attempting to get back up to normal speed.

Thank you BigInch.
I would like to be more clear about that,
If the compressor is working at the maximum turbine power, Will the flow rate decrease if delta P across the compressor increased?

RE: What does Compressor running at maximum turbine power mean?

Yes.  With no greater power output available to keep lifting the same mass to a higher head, a forced increase in differential head would necessitate a decrease in mass flow, all other things remaining equal.
