Reading a location of a point after analysis

(OP)
Please i am trying to create and read the position of a point on a part after analysis in ABAQUS/CAE.i am modelling gripping effect.i have 2 metal bars of same size seperated by a rubber like material for the gripping.i have pulled one of the metals at one end while clapped the other bar at the opposite end. after the analysis i have have seen the relative displacement between the bars. however, i want to measure this dispalcement by setting a point on one of the bars and read-out the position,or is there a better way to achieve this? please, can somebody assist me?

RE: Reading a location of a point after analysis

Hi,

In ABAQUS/CAE you can measure the exact relative distance between two nodes by selecting:

Tools -> Query -> Distance

Just select two nodes and you should be set.

Good luck,
Dave

RE: Reading a location of a point after analysis

If you need (or can) re-run the simulation you can have Abaqus track the coordinates of any point or node. Look at the COORD field output variable.

Dan
