Weld Design For 316 Stainless Steel

Weld Design For 316 Stainless Steel

(OP)
Are the design procedures used for carbon steel applicable to 316 stainless?

If so, where would references be found regarding the yield stress of 316 filler material?

RE: Weld Design For 316 Stainless Steel

Check ASCE 8 "Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Stainless Steel Structural Members" it is the only American standard that I know of regarding stainless steel design

A 316 electrode has a tensile strength of 75 ksi from Table A15 from the above specification
