Unreinforced Openings ASME VIII-2

Unreinforced Openings ASME VIII-2

Unreinforced Openings ASME VIII-2

(OP)
Just a clarification regarding unreinforced openings in ASME VIII div. 2 subsequent to Ed. 2007.
Until Ed. 2004, AD-510 allowed for unreinforced openings for hole diameters less than 2" (50 mm).
Starting from Ed. 2007 unreinforced openings seem to be no longer covered, even if unreinforced opeinings are mentioned in some places as 4.3.9.2(c) (Drilled holes not pentrating through) and 4.5.3.1(d) (Expanded connections).
How can I treat unreinforced holes with diameter less than (50 mm in VIII div. 2?
Thanks

RE: Unreinforced Openings ASME VIII-2

There is no exemption anymore for small openings.  All must be checked for adequate reinforcement (even if it is self-reinforced.
