Sanitary sewer pipe repair

Sanitary sewer pipe repair

Sanitary sewer pipe repair

(OP)
I am looking to put together a cost estimate for plans and specs for a sanitary sewer repair through lining of the pipe.  The pipe size is 8-inches, but I am not sure what the material is.  I am thinking that all that would be required is a plan sheet showing where the repairs are located, and then a specification dealing with the lining. I have no experience with lining pipes, so is there anything that I am not seeing?  Thanks.

RE: Sanitary sewer pipe repair

In addition to what you have described, you have to deal with the individual service connections that connect into the sewer. A topo survey may be necessary. You also have to consider traffic issues if in the roadway.

Do you plan to repair the service sewers? Note that a substantial amount of I & I occurs in the service sewers.

We actually do have topo.  The sewer line is within a campus (mostly under green space), so traffic issues are not involved.  All the services to the buildigns are from manholes, and according to the information that I have, don't need to be repaired.

Why don't you talk to some lining installers and/or manufacturers? They'll be happy to help.
How will flow be diverted while you're lining the pipe? Does the pipe need to stay in service? Can you bypass? Or is temporary pumping required? How about traffic?
We've had projects where we had to do public relations. These projects are not just technical.

Jed has it right -- Insituform comes to mind. They are based here in in St. Louis but are nation wide.  And there  are others that do the same thing!!

Where is this lining project? We do that type of work on the East coast.

Most pipe lining projects I've seen are almost entirely turnkey.  Google CIPP and call someone that services your area.  These guys work in mine:  http://engineeredlining.com/

RE: Sanitary sewer pipe repair

The sewer lining project I am working on has plan & profile for all lining sections and indicates exact areas for additional repairs and specifying the thickness of the liner depending on condition of the pipe. (In my case, 100+ year old VCP.) You also need the spec to include something for TVing the pipe afterwards.

ASCE has a spec includes everything.
