Fume Hood

Fume Hood

Fume Hood

(OP)
Has anyone ever seen one of these hoods before? I need to find an equivalent, but the only info I was provided with is this picture. Thanks for the help.

RE: Fume Hood

Well, the manometer on the side is definitely a Dwyer.  As for the hood, i'm guessing that the best clue might be the huge red sticker on the front.

RE: Fume Hood

Blow the picture up for the red tag info.

RE: Fume Hood

I looks like it was put together by a sheet metal contractor.  It appears to be similar to something you would see in the industrial hygienists handbook of industrial ventilation.  The manometer on the side would confirm that the pressure differential is correct for capture.

When blown up the words are distorted, but i think it says Presto Hoods. does that ring a bell with anyone?

RE: Fume Hood

That appears to be a brand of France Air, who are readily googleable.

RE: Fume Hood

It looks like something Graingers might have sold long ago. I have seen similar things and they were soldering station and pc board work station or conformal coat stations. On the top of the hood is the exhaust fan, and inside the hood at the back area you see the filters, possibly with carbon elements and the Dwyer on the side is the filter gauge to tell them when the filters are too dirty. If you know the required exhaust cfm or the air velocity required at the front of the hood you could get a good sheet metal shop to build you one unless it needs some kind of certified rating from some agency.

It looks like the lady is measuring a fire damper at the wall penetration. I'm not sure why they would put a fire damper in an exhaust line.

Don't you have any specs on what is required?
