section modulus of a tapered section

section modulus of a tapered section

section modulus of a tapered section

(OP)
Does anyone here knows how to calculate the elastic/plastic section moduli of a tapered section?

RE: section modulus of a tapered section

Same as a non tapered member, you just have to do it a few times at various depths to get the trend (assuming straightline taper)

RE: section modulus of a tapered section

ditto, perhaps explain the direction of taper ... like in-plane (so the section's not rectangular) or out-of-plane (like a swaged tube) ?

RE: section modulus of a tapered section

If you mean the cross-section is not rectangular, it just becomes an integration problem from the definition.

You can get some section properties via AutoCAD- draw the shape, change it into a "Region" (if I remember right), move it so the centroid is at 0,0, then check properties of the region.  I'd prefer the direct route.
