prequalified AR400 welds

prequalified AR400 welds

prequalified AR400 welds

(OP)
I was hoping to find some prequalified welds for sticking AR400 and and similar materials together . So far Google and the ASME boiler code do not list any thing useful. I'm getting a copy of the recent AISC manual to see what materials are on their prequalified list.

Does anyone know of a code (other than the farm code) that might include similar materials?

thanks

Dan T

RE: prequalified AR400 welds

I would not recommend using this approach (pre-qualified procedures) for high strength low alloy steel, like AR400 plate. You should develop your own welding procedure to understand the limitations associated with heat input. This material cannot be post weld heat treated because it will soften.
