ADVANCED FLANGE ISSUE - NX7.5

ADVANCED FLANGE ISSUE - NX7.5

ADVANCED FLANGE ISSUE - NX7.5

(OP)
Hi,

I got a strange Advanced Flange (see the attached file).
I do not know why the Flange gets this weird shape!....
The Tab shape is perfect tangent constrained.......!
What did I do wrong? Any sugestion?......

Thanks

RE: ADVANCED FLANGE ISSUE - NX7.5

I can't explain the problem, but if you create the flange as two features it seems to work fine (see attached example).

I would submit your original model to GTAC and have them look at it.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Great, thanks!
A hint: It looks like applying less or more than 90 degrees to the Advanced Flange cause this dilemma.......

RE: ADVANCED FLANGE ISSUE - NX7.5

Yes, I was thinking the same thing since I started at the other end and picked the curves one-at-a-time and the preview of the flange looked OK until I selected the last segment.  That's why I stopped when I did and decided to create it using TWO features rather than just one all the way around.

I was wondering if we could find a logical explanation of why NX react in such particular mode............
It would give a more understanding about how Advanced Flanged should be approached.......!

RE: ADVANCED FLANGE ISSUE - NX7.5

Hence my suggestion that you submit your model to GTAC and have development look at it.

Either this result was unexpected and if so, they need to fix something. Or if this uncovered a limitation, again, either we remove it or if that's not possible, we at least need to caveat this behavior and offer suggestions of how one would approach this problem (such as create it as two or more separate features) if and when it's encountered.
