Reaction Force on the vent line of the Gas Injection system

Reaction Force on the vent line of the Gas Injection system

Reaction Force on the vent line of the Gas Injection system

Hi
Do  someone  have an idea in regards  of the calculation of the Reaction force  on the  Chock valve placed  on vente line  system  for the GI  injection wells
Thanks  for any feed  back

Thanks ione for your reply ,
if you do not mind  i think  The  question will more precise , since the API RP  520 is apllied  for the Pressure safety  Valve ,  Our  Case is  presented by  a chock valve on the line , where  it is Manualy Operated for discharging the line from his load. In point of  view  of the  stress calculation can we assume the reaction force can be  calculated based on the API  RP 520 (Asumption that The chock is similar to the PSV ) ?

Thanks

RE: Reaction Force on the vent line of the Gas Injection system

In this case, basically a force balance on a valve and piping system, I think "Asumption that The chock is similar to the PSV" is an excellent assumption.  The force balance does not care what type, make, or model the valve is - just that it is discharging to atmosphere (lower pressure) and there is a resulting thrust creating a bending moment where it is connected to the piping.

Good luck,
Latexman

Thanks Latexman for your addition

Yes use 520 and, if its a small vent line, don't use anything less than XXS pipe wall, no matter what the calculation results say.

thanks  Big Inch
could you precise the range  of the small vent stipulated in your Reply ?

4" and less
