Tracing heating system

Tracing heating system

Tracing heating system

(OP)
Does anyone have information available of tracing heating for pipes?. It's system for to heat a pipe with a resistance. I'm looking for it's cost, cofiguration, adaptabilities, etc.

RE: Tracing heating system

I haven't heard of that application, but I know natural gas companies will apply a small electric current to metal gas pipes to keep them from rusting. Perhaps they would have some information that could be applied to your situation.

RE: Tracing heating system

Raychem manufactures a resistance heater (wire wrap) with an integral thermostat for pipe heating, rampways etc. Look in:

RE: Tracing heating system

DO YOU MEAN HEAT TRACING OF PIPE? IF I UNDERSTAND IT CORRECTLY I THINK THERE WILL NOT BE ANY HEAT LOSS IN THE PIPE,SUCH AS STEAM PIPE. IF SO THRE ARE MANY METHOD FOR HEAT INSULATION.
1.BY ELECTRIC HEAT TRACING METHOD.
2TUBE IN TUBE METHOD. IN THIS METHOD CORE WILL BE SAROUNDEDBY NUMBER OF TUBE OF SAME MATERIAL OF SAME TEMPERATURE.
I DO NOT WHEATHER I COULD EXPLAIN IT OR NOT

RE: Tracing heating system

Actually there are a variety of systems: Hot Oil, Steam, Hot water,Electrical, etc.

The fluid/steam systems employ a supply line (from the header) to a supply manifold, leads (pre-insulated tubing)to the traced line, tracing (bare) tubing to a max of 80 LF or so and a return (condensate in the case of steam) to a return manifold and back to a return header.
Electrical systems are really a second choice except in the cases where the Process requires finite ranges of temperatures to be maintained or there is no readily available fluid/steam supply source. Discharge for fluid/steam can always be made to the ground in remote plant areas. Electrical tracing systems are more expensive on an ongoing basis.

RE: Tracing heating system

Hi Ingmap,

when you are looking for a such system you have to specify
   - The pipe destination ( what kind of fluid ?)
   - The temparature range
   - The pressure range

and please specify what kind of tracing you mean:
   - simple chart record or
   - Multi-point controller
