Wind loads on building pic

Wind loads on building pic

RE: Wind loads on building pic

Nice collection. Just when starting my practice I did a bioclimates' study on the town I live, and I was quite surprised how much the behaviour of the wind resembled what expected of some water flow ... a mechanics of fluid's issue. Then of course the gaz nature of the air has its own flavour but I would say the similarities with liquids are bigger than the discrepancies, at least form a geometrical viewpoint.

RE: Wind loads on building pic

SteelPE...nice post. Thanks.

I have a few photos that I took of my neighbor's house during a thunderstorm about 15 years ago.  The rain was blowing sideways across the roof, showing the windward and leeward wind patterns very nicely.

RE: Wind loads on building pic

I hope ASCE doesn't see this....they'll change the wind code again!

RE: Wind loads on building pic

TJ...like they need a reason?

RE: Wind loads on building pic

(OP)
How much more could they possibly change it.  The are already switched everything over the strength design, doubled the number of pages which now requires 6x the amount of chapters what are they going to do now..... switch everything over to super duper strength design.

RE: Wind loads on building pic

Maybe they could add some greek letters that are impossible to write longhand. That really spiced up ACI 318 Appendix D.

RE: Wind loads on building pic

lets not turn this into a how bad is my code discussion.

the pics are nice.

RE: Wind loads on building pic

Really beautiful pics.   Seems we did about the same thing in the college wind tunnel using "fake" smoke.

Most impressive to see it in real time.
