Teamcenter Import with Auto Naming

Teamcenter Import with Auto Naming

Teamcenter Import with Auto Naming

(OP)
I have an assembly that I'm working on locally in NX7.5 that I want to import into Teamcenter. If I go into each part, and select Properties and go to the General tab, each part has a unique Name associated to the Part Number. I know that when I import the assembly into Teamcenter, it will automatically know the correct Part Number, but is there also a way to import this Part Name as well? Thanks

RE: Teamcenter Import with Auto Naming

I believe you need to enter the Name in an attribute called DB_PART_NAME, this will then translate to the Part Name in Teamcenter (as long as Teamcenter is configured correctly).

I tried to do this, but it didn't work for me. Could you elaborate on what I need to do? A solution to this would save me a lot of time creating names for 100+ parts. (I'm using Teamcenter V5.3)

RE: Teamcenter Import with Auto Naming

If you go to File>Properties for the part in your local NX7.5 session you should see something similar to the attached image, I am using NX6 which has an Attributes tab with the associated Teamcenter DB attributes listed but no values set yet, I am not sure if in NX7.5 you now set the Attributes in the General tab??

Either way you should be able to set the DB_PART_NAME attribute with a value the same as the Part Name you already have, then when you import this saved part into Teamcenter the DB_PART_NAME attribute translates to the Item Name in Teamcenter.

If you want a bit more on attributes search this forum for DB_PART_NAME and you'll find plenty of threads discussing them, which may enable you to find the right section in the help documentation.
